Elon Musk and Tesla Cybertruck

All I see these days are articles about Tesla in my LinkedIn feed. Someone asked if their new 0% financing would save them. Another person wondered if their model Y updates would save them. I don’t think anything will save them. The people who chant ‘drill, baby, drill’ don’t buy Teslas and the people who buy Teslas don’t chant anything but ‘Resign! Resign!’.

Meanwhile, Cantor Fitzgerald gave them a buy rating yesterday. Really? I guess no one over there reads the news. Who wants a car that’s likely and likelier to be vandalized? In two more months we’ll see another Tesla earnings report and I’d be pretty surprised if it says anything other than ‘hold your nose for this’. You can like Musk or hate him, but it’s undeniable his brand is becoming toxic to the people who powered its rise. You know, the people who are conscious of the environment and have the means to drop $50k or more on a statement car that doesn’t run on gas. (You also need money to install a charger in your garage or it’s just not practical to own.) Those people aren’t going back to the showroom. Instead, like me, they’re buying a Ford electric, or something else, but definitely not a Tesla.

And things overseas are even worse. But in all fairness, who could have predicted a Nazi-looking salute would have been so unpopular in Europe? People are fickle. For Musk, lesson learned?

Evidently not. Musk followed up his offensive solute, not with a contrite ‘sorry, my bad’, but with tasteless Nazi puns on his Twitter feed (yes, really!). And just this week Musk retweeted an opinion (now deleted) that shifted blame for WWII atrocities from Hitler to nameless government workers – you know – the ones who were really responsible for all that unpleasantness.

I’m not sure I’d do a whole heckava lot with Tesla stock other than ‘sell, baby, sell’. But fear not! I hear you can get a good deal on Truth Social stock… the ticker for that is DJT and they are really killing it right now! I heard through the grapevine they might break a half million in gross revenue this quarter.

But look, if you don’t do well in the stock market, at least you have Social Security to rely on when you get older… Assuming you retire and die in the next few months before Musk ends that wasteful ponzi scheme.

Yes, it’s true. Life has been pretty unfair to Musk. His Twitter purchase has lost quite a bit of value, and his Tesla company is facing significant headwinds, and now Kanye is suing him for copyright infringement of his new album cover (you’ll have to look that one up). Also, let’s not forget he’s got 83 children from 39 mothers to feed, and counting. But I’ll keep him in my prayers. I’m sure things will turn around soon, and if not, there’s always that fresh start to look forward to on Mars.
